Forrest - Family Reunion Photographer, Park City, Utah

I am so excited to share this slideshow of a family reunion I was able to document this summer. Basically, I got to tag along with the awesome  Forrest family for their entire reunion. It was awesome. :) I was there at 8am for pancakes, went with them on all their adventures, and partied until the sun went down. When I get to spend this much time with a family I start to feel like I am just a part of the family. And they definitely made me feel that way. I love being there for all the best moments, that you don't normally get to have photographs of, like the kids wresting on the couch, cooking dinner together, and all the snuggles. Oh, how I love me some good snuggles.....

Willdens Photojournaling session (Video)

I used to think putting photos in a slideshow with music was outdated.... But documentary photos from one day in someone's life feels so different... The music and images working together to tell the story draws the viewer in and bring that day back to life.

I just love seeing the whole story unfold, because there is so much more behind the couple in this video, so much more than the portrait. As I watch this video I am reminded exactly how it felt to be in the Willden's home, the years of memories and travels, the love between this couple and the love for their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. I can remember how the room lit up when Emma would smile and I felt when she would hug her great granddaughter. I rembeber feeling the pride Ron had as he showed me his homemade wines and the furniture he made throughout the house, the nostalgia of the many items and memories shared about each. Watching this story in a video brings that all back and I love it!

Hulet Family Photojournaling

The Hulet family is near and dear to my heart. I've been able to get to know them over the years as they have welcomed my little sis into their family.  I love them and I feel kinda bad for the times when we jokingly decided to monopolize my sister's family when they were in town so we wouldn't have to share them with the Hulets.

This amazing family invited me into their home to photograph them for a day. And I can see why my sister didn't want us to monopolize her time. Being around them feels like home and like my own family, just not as loud and obnoxious. As in many families, it is clear the heart of the Hulet family is Mom, Grandma, and Wife, Renon, and the reason for my being asked to photograph the Hulets. Renon was diagnosed with cancer last year. It's hard to put words to all of my feelings about Renon at the moment... I have seen her touch so many lives beyond just my sister's and I want to share all of the things about her... But that is just too much. So here is my short sweet version. She is charismatic, outgoing, fun, caring, artistic, creative, talented, confident, generous, and loving.  And I am in awe by her strength and courage and the positive attitude and faith she has maintained through all she has faced and endured. She has loved my sister like her own daughter. I loved watching her embrace each of her grandchildren with open arms and heart. And her own children are an extension of all that is good in her. It was such an honor to photograph her and her beautiful family.

Easter

I hate pastel colors. And honestly, that is the only reason I don't like Easter. Silly right? It's just all pinks and baby blues and cutesiness. But I do love dying eggs, especially when you can get really bold and dark colors like these. This is my favorite green right now.

Here are some old photos from, oh ya know, two years ago.... :)
Someday.... Someday I will have mulled through everything.  If only I could stop taking pictures long enough to get caught up.

Portfolio

I am going to unabashedly brag, not because I think I am especially worthy of bragging or anything, but because I have been working my tush off for the last two weeks on grad school applications. And I'm a tiny bit proud of myself.

A part of the applications is an art portfolio. I decided this would be a good time to share some recent photos mingled with some of my art from recent art classes, and old photos from my photo program at the University of Utah, in the form of my portfolio.
(I mostly want to show off my recent photos but yer gettin' it all!)

I am in serious need of some TLC. I'm thinking sleep and.... I can't think of anything else... hahahah!
what does one do to relax these days? I'm taking suggestions.

So without further ado, I present my portfolio:

Jaden

Have I mentioned how much I love wind blown hair....? And I really love this photo of Jaden.
Jaden is a true tomboy and incredibly shy, so to capture her in a moment like this is magic. :)

Elijah

This is sweet little Elijah. And he is really sweet just not to me...
He has two older brothers, so he has learned to fight back and he is pretty feisty! Anytime I try to talk to him or even love him better if he falls he just pushes me away. hahahah! But I think that has more to do with the disdain he has for me....
But doesn't he have the most beautiful eyelashes...

Sydney

Okay I am finally blogging some old photos from, oh... last spring... hahaha!

Sometimes I make Sydney go on photo walks with me. I told her we were going to feed the ducks. But when we got there some dumb kids had already over fed them as there was a bunch of bread floating the Jordan River. It's like, "save some starving ducks for the rest of us! sheesh!"
She gladly ate all the bread.... Oh, how I love this girl and her crazy striped pants.

Fujicolor Pro400H film, unedited.
why do I continue to shoot digital? oh yeah, I'm cheap. hahaha
